O/S Daily Thursday 16 June 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Speky – hugs to you and your GF x
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, very light cloud with the sun trying to break through, dried up underfoot after the thunder and lightning storm we had for a while yesterday late afternoon. It did rain but wasn’t as heavy as some of the rain showers we’ve been having. Have a load to peg on the line, will see if I can get it line dried.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as he’s on study leave.
Dinner last night was chicken portions, baked peppers stuffed with cous cous, and pasta in a cream sauce with mushrooms and bacon – all eaten and enjoyed, used up the LO cream and some bacon that was getting close to its use by date. Tonight I’m not sure what we will be having as I didn’t get anything out of the freezer, so need to organise that at some point.
Yesterday work was busy but steady, so just worked steadily all day. Now on days’ off, I have the normal “to do” list. I will be heading into town to visit the building society and bank shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, I'm off in a sec to change nappies and help with the school run.
Sorted the cupboard under the stairs yesterday and discovered hubby has 17 coats !!!!!!! He seems to think he needs them all, and has suggested we hire a storage unit. Over my dead body! I will do some judicious weeding when he's not looking.
Work this morning, professional declutterer this afternoon, then I shall retire to the understairs cupboard, not to sort it, just to hide.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
Not very nice this morning, hoping it will brighten up. Washing can wait. DW emptied and packed lunch made.
HH - 17 coats!
Hugs Speky.
Not much to report, work and hospice today. We have been told at work that we have a complete re-decoration over the holidays and our office is being re-designed so I have to move everything, including the tons of resources and stationery that has already arrived for the new school year.
Enjoy today. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
Another cloudy day though I'm hoping for sunny spells at some point.
Yesterday somehow got busy. I ended up taking the unwanted and unloved Vax up to Oban where there's a place which sells second hand goods. The volunteers there will PAT test and give it a clean. Luckily I still had the manual. This place is inside the grounds of the local tip so easy to take stuff to. Unloaded all the cardboard from my various deliveries too.
Later on I sat through checking all 33 of my online students and recording their progress - or lack of. I need to send each one an email reminding them of their 12 month registration deadline.
Today I'm off early down to Inverary to collect someone, bring her up to the hospital, wait for her, take her back down and then home again, roughly [STRIKE]200 [/STRIKE]/100 miles. That'll be my day so I'll take a little packed lunch.
Dumpling - how was your clinic visit?
Speky - so sorry for your girlfriend, however it's been caught at stage one so things should be fine. Be sure to give her lots of hugs as she'll be really worried.
TA - welcome back from your travels. I'm glad you both had a good time. My Gtech arrived on Tuesday and is just brilliant. It's so easy to use. The little box doesn't hold a lot of rubbish but it's also so easy to empty. I noticed that it lifted so much more dust / dirt which the other one didn't. Now I can vacuum without any 'hassle'. I'd recommend it for you.
Still haven't opened the handheld steamer, that'll probably happen on Sunday at the earliest!
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning all. Just enjoying a quiet coffee before the DGDs descend and start creating mayhem! A miserable start here and not forecast to brighten up either. Though not much rain is promised. I did three washer loads last night but somehow I can't see it getting hung outside. So I suppose upstairs will end up like a Chinese laundry with wet washing draped everywhere!
I must do some shopping today. The fridge is looking rather bare and there are a few store cupboard items I need to stock up on. Fruit and veg supplies running low too. I'm hoping I can manage with just an Aldi shop.
The 3 DGDs are all back again tonight after their respective swimming and diving clubs. Tea yet to be christened though a vote before they go to school will probably mean it's some sort of pasta bake. I shall try and avoid it and maybe have some form of salad after the silly eating I have been doing this week.
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Thinking especially of SPEKY & gf and, of course, HILSTEP. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Thanks for the review GERS. Whilst we were away I decided I would order both the GTech upright and handheld too so I was pleased to read you are happy with it!. We will then take the redundant Hoover to the caravan to replace the big cumbersome thing we keep there. I have also decided to get some form of steamer too so if anybody has a recommendation please post! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Good morning,
Was awake at 4am due to a bad dream, so feeling a bit groggy now. Speky - sending hugs X
Gym this morning, then off to the charity. I have minutes of our AGM to type up - dull but necessary! Then popping to the church to photocopy the Sunday service sheet. I'm out for dinner with a friend tonight at Bluewater, so will also need to wash my hair after work (don't bother at the gym as the hair dryers are rubbish).
DD did all the ironing yesterday to repay some of her debt. Not one bit was hers which annoyed her somewhat - welcome to my world lol!
Will send DH for some supplies whilst I'm at work as we are short of bread and veg.
Have a good day everyone,

Specky I am so sorry to hear about your girlfriend its going to be a tough time for you both but hopefully they have caught it early enough, give her lots of love and hugs as she will need it at the moment ( I am sure you are already) xx
Off to work for me its been fairly quiet this week due to the rain lets hope today is the same as we only have two staff in and two work experience youngsters !
Something with chips for dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this, shopping being delivered too and I need to do a wash.
Tru great news re your dd :T and well done Scampi :T
Its Evis 1st Birthday today and she seems very excited by the fact ! there will be a small present tonight

Morning :hello:
Thank you camelotThey haven't set a date yet. I think they'll take their time, he has a son and although they've been together for a couple of years and miss tru gets on well with him, they want to make sure he doesn't feel pushed out. He helped his dad choose the ring, he was quite excited about that

I'm the most impatient person ever, I'm also very stubborn. It's often a battle of wills with Scampi, lol, and my stubbornness won't allow him to win! But that stubbornness has forced patience out of me that I didn't know I had
Hope your appointment went well dumpling x
TravellingAbuela I have THIS ONE I've only used it for floors so far but I'm pleased with it.
The garden was soggy again, so my floors are filthy – againI seem to be spending a lot of time mopping lately. I've started buying an extra pack of dog treats every week for the rescue centre, should have a nice collection of goodies by Christmas. I need to find somewhere to keep them so I'll clear a space today. The washing has been dried indoors for the past few days so the dust has built up, I'll open the windows for an hour and get dusting. I need to do a bit more computer work later. Everything else is done, so it'll be a lazy afternoon.

Good move! I also bought another handheld as my Mum had purloined mine - she wanted to try it out and somehow it got left in Glasgow.
Actually the dust holder on the AirRam holds more than I thought - the machine compresses it very tightly.
As I use Ama*on a lot I bought this one after reading all the reviews. I haven't used it yet so have no first hand knowledge, others will have their own favourites I'm sure.
Happy vacuuming!0 -
Morning all, a quick post before I head off to work.
Speky am thinking of your girlfriend, and hoping that she will be able to have this treated as quickly as possible, given that it has been caught so early.
Very damp and overcast here. No washing going out, pointless.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
