Should be going Monday - been passed from pillar to post at Thomas Cook. No-one wants to take any ownership of this. Won't be using them again - I'm a typical moneysaver but went for the 'safe' well-established operator route because I'm organising for both my family and the in-laws.
So annoyed.

I am sorry to say this is going to be repeated on a daily basis for the next three months to Spain and the islands. Bookings are up from the UK by over 30% as they are from most of the rest of Europe as everyone decided Spain, and Portugal, would be a safe haven this year. The hotels have always overbooked when they could but this year there have not been enough cancellations to clear the rooms. In practical terms, if you are given 48 hours notice, there may be little you can do but you can complain on arrival if the accommodation is not satisfactory and claim compensation when you get back if necessary. This is not the year to be a Tour Rep. in Spain I fear!0

This is down to the hotel, and I'm sure that the tour operator are doing their best. As you said yesterday, they'd only just managed to find accommodation for someone travelling today. When there is such a shortage of beds on the island it's just as much a nightmare for them as it is for their customers.
It's obvious it's not just Thomas Cook that have had guests bumped. Jet2Holidays have as well, and if they have it's heaven help anyone that's booked through an OTA because they're normally the ones that get bumped first anyway.0 -
I fear we will see and hear about more hotel overbookings in Spain, the Spanish islands and Portugal this summer. We are not even in peak season yet, just wait until mid July and August.0
