Buying Items off a smoker

I'm sure its happened to all of us, you buy something, and it comes stinking of cigarette smoke.
Sometimes its so bad, you dont want it, can you send it back?

you not got a washing machine?
if you want goods only from non-smokers then you should ask, if it didn't state non- smoking household in the listing then no you shouldn't be able to send it back.

Got to agree with the above.

Comes under the heading of "check before you bid".

I bought a swimsuit once which came absolutely reeking! (literally) It took 2 machine washes for the smell to go. When I checked her feedback she'd received a negative for supplying a smoky smelling item to someone else, and she had given a spiteful retaliatory negative. It was a nice swimsuit though, and I wanted to keep it. I didn't want a negative feedback either so, shamefully, I gave her a positive :o

yeah,i used to do chipped xbox's and similar stuff.
some 2nd hand xbox's stank of smoke but thankully easily cleaned up.
tis the risk you take im afraid
  • I have received something which smelled but I laundered it and was fine.

I buy so few clothes from ebay, I haven't noticed it be an issue.

As a seller, I promote that ours is a smoke free home.

Sadly, a lot of smokers don't realise their house and contents have a smell; always wise to ask before buying if it will bother you.

I had a PS2 and the smell was stuck in the fan.
    Eventually cleared out.

I find if you buy stuff from household with children under 2 or 3 it has a strange aroma. Is this enough reason to leave negative feedback?

Guess it depends on whether it's an 'aroma' or a 'stink'.
