Replacing Worcester Boiler Advice

Options
Hi Everyone,

We've moved into a property which currently has a Worcester Bosch 24i boiler that is running fine, but is a little old (10yrs or more) and possiblly inefficient too.

We've called out installers and they have recommended:-

Worcester Bosch 38CDI or a Vaillant 838.

I'm note sure what to do, so would appreciate any advice on which boiler to go for.

Thanks

leave the one you've got and don't replace it at all. The savings you make on a new "efficient" boiler will take years and years to recover the installation cost

    EDIT - Snap :D

    Thanks for your replies.

It's actually one of these energy grants that I'm getting, so it's costing nothing....is it still not worth it?

Well if it's free then it will be worth doing.

Why didn't you tell us that to start with?

I've just had a new Worcester Bosch boiler installed. It seems very good. Can't tell you the model atm (not at home).

Spend a bit of time googling reliability.

Worcester boilers have a reputation for reliability.

Valliant boilers also get very good reviews so it doesn't really matter all that much which one you pick as both are good.

Thanks Rain & Pixie. I'll be honest and say that is exactly what I've been doing before posting on here. I'm confused as there are tons arguments about worcester vs vaillant reliability and it's thrown me in a bit of a dilemma. Which one in your experience would give me:-

    1. More kw output
    2. Be more efficient
    3. Cheaper for parts
    4. Have a longer warranty, assuming I don't get an accredited installer?

Also the current installed boiler is a system boiler I believe, so won't installing a combi boiler cause any issues?

The Greenstar CDi Compact can be put in a standard kitchen cupboard which I liked. also, if fitted by a registered WB fitter it comes with 10 years parts and labour.

I spent ages doing research last winter and found it the best option for me

One WB fitter told me that they so rarely break down that he, and other fitters, make their money from the yearly service (£55 for doing little more than cleaning filters and the like)

Thanks jim...I don't have any issues fitting either of these boilers as I have adequate space in the cupboards.
