Debt, debt go away (and don't come back another day)

Yep - we are on the way - Thanks ladies!
NCT get together was brilliant- they are all so grown up!
Today, DH had to cut up some logs before we can get going on taking garage down - and his wheel barrow broke!! So I've had to drive out to get a new wheel, but couldn't get the right one, so had to buy a new one (£47!!). He'll be making £120, from the log sales, which is some welcome £££, but it's a shame so much has to go on a new barrow! Still can't be helped.
Going to crack on clearing the garage and you never know - we might get it down if there's enough hours of daylight. Also to do today is to clean his van inside and out as it is going for MOT tomorrow. Seriously need to keep fingers crossed for MOT. Could do with another good news day - we know it's going to cost some money but how much!! Praying to the gods of MOTness as we speak.

Hello hello. It's been a while.
The garage still isn't down - but it definitely will be this weekend!
Last weekend, we blitzed the 'new' house - so pretty much all rooms now painted, just the woodwork to do.
DH's MOT was £570 - about what i was expecting. Straight onto CC
Expenses for the new house still coming in - good news on the wood burner front, all swept and ready to go. Not so great news on the AGA front - the service guy had asked us to do some work to repair the tank and pipework before he could service, but when DH got it down realised that it has basically rusted through and is not repairable. A new tank will be approx £500 ish to install - DH is calling the service guy to see if we can get away putting a second hand one in it's place - fingers crossed - will still cost cash, but a lot less. Half of the house is basically as cold as a fridge, so it is really needed. Me and DH would probably just do without and wear more clothes, but seeing as there's a little DD in the frame too, feel we need to do something.
Paperwork sent off for house sale - so now they are just waiting on us to pull our finger out and finish the place so we can get it on the market. I think DH will need to spend 2 weeks full-time on it to get it done, so not awful - but at the moment with all the too-ing and fro-ing and childcare, there's just no time ;-(
Worried that by the time we do sell, all the profit will be eaten up by new CC debt.
I'm determined to put £50K away - but in reality, it may have to be less - we'll see.
Think I heard today that I will be getting back my £250 excess from car insurance so that will appear at some point- Hopefully before we move. Also asked whether I would get anything else for the whiplash. Don't really like to, but needs must. Still going to physio, still not better, but it is improving which is great.
Move is on 3rd Feb - movers will cost £360. Will probably take out of the EF to cover.
DH's tax bill due 31 Jan - need to pay £127.
Don't need to pay council tax or water this month = phew.
New nursery fees will be cheaper from Feb.
DH's job opportunity probably isn't a goer - back to square1.
Less than a month until I start my new job.

Wow! You have been busy. No wonder you haven't been on the MSE boards. It sounds like you're making headway.
Exciting times!0 -
Quick pop in.
Money good news: £150 bonus for 10 years service (but then they take tax and NI....) still it's nice to get a letter signed from the big cheese.
Moving house on Friday. Both houses looks like a war zone, but getting there. Starting new job on 13th. all go!
2 defaults are on their way - just one more to go.
Debt still stagnating / going up - but not by a lot - will get much better once we have moved and stopped travelling between 2 houses. And then much better again when we sell house number 1 and I can reduce debt a bit. The end is in sight! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. 2018 plans - reduce debt0 -
We are in! Moved in a weather warning. The removal men decided to come early 7am to avoid the worst of the weather. All good except we went to bed late and slept through our alarm - woke up to them on our doorstep! Whoops. Nevermind. We're here now - and sorting things out, sun is shining. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Happy move day! Don't work to hard.
When do you start your new job?0 -
Hi Louby!
I start a week on Monday. Got to travel back to my old house and job for a couple of days this week, and then DD has a couple of days at her new nursery, and then it will be here. Eeeeep!
Unpacked the kitchen today. Now have a washing machine, dishwasher and tumbledryer. Civilisation resumes.
Slightly freezing. Stone flag floors to blame for that. Fingers crossed we manage to get the aga going before too long. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

hello!
Been ages. Still calming down after moving.
DH serviced the aga and got it running - so we now have an almost warm house - yay. Saved us £150+ on servicing so that's great (thank you Youtube too!!)
Started new job today. It's not quite what I was expecting as they have taken away one whole area of work that was one of the bits I was going there for......that's the downside. On the up - will probably be seriously easy and I can leave work at work for a while.....(except I'm not hard wired that way and may get bored!!) We shall see!
got news of payrise - 3% minimum so not bad. Works out as an extra £40 a month after everything else has gone out of it!! better than nothing I suppose! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
