    Congratulations :D
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭
  • Well done Ramble. This is really good to read. I am so pleased for you. Honestly you deserve it. Big congratulations. Keep us posted because this is fantastic. xxx

Hello lovelies. So panic has not truely set in yet, but it's there lurking!
Imagine my house, lived here 3 years, moved in when it was mouldy there was polysterene on the walls and the ceilings...we did loads, then DD came along and we've done diddly since then....well get home from work yesterday and DH had done 3 jobs off the list that I have been waiting 18 months for, whilst looking after DD. I was delighted....for a few seconds and then I was like - why has this taken you 18 months!!! anyway, more has been done, all progress.
I'm just about to do all my DH's paperwork for his accounts, to see if we can get his payment on account for next year reduced as I know he isn't earning as much as last year. Fingers crossed - if it comes off this will mean we need to pay out £1.2K in Jan, rather than £1.9K....currently paid off £400. Then later this eve when DD has gone to bed I am going to paint the kitchen island!

DH will be finding out a possible move in date today for place we will be moving to - or maybe tomorrow. My old boss is playing hard ball and wants me to do full 3 month notice, so going to let new and old sort it out between themselves.

Not told anyone but my boss at work yet!

    Hey PSL.
busy busy but surviving! Thanks for checking in on me. I have no time for MSE at the moment. and the bad thing is that I can see it's having an impact on spending too. We are SKINT....days are getting shorter, so husband is earning less too. and we need to spend out loads on DIY. Grrr. Going to make myself check in daily - just quick updates to try and keep on track.

I'm going to a do a you PSL and start tracking days to try and help keep me focussed over next few weeks. Looks like start date of my new job might be mid Feb - that feels like a bit of a relief as it could have been beginning Jan. We still want to get house on market by beginning of Jan so the rush is still on!

Days for house to be "done": 46 days
Days B4 I start my new job: 80 days - ish
Days B4 we move: who knows?!!

Our accounts are super low right now - with some spending on CC's. Going to be getting a solar payment early Dec which is a positive.
Still trying to save for DH tax bill. Hoping to put £300 towards that at the end of the month - this will then mean we can put £250 a month towards bill for end Dec and end Jan which should see it all good. Waiting to hear if they have reduced his payments on account to zero as it looks like he will not need to pay tax for this years measly income.

In other news, we've started researching nursery's and childminders - and we will have a choice! For the same as we pay now, DD could go to a nursery at a private school that's outstanding! Not sure if we will pick that one though - have to see! Other bonus is that as I will have Friday's off (have to work Sunday's instead) we could save some £££ (£200 a month) by only putting her into nursery for 2 days....or put her in for 3 days and then DH works an extra day...but given how unreliable DH's income is, I think it might be safer to drop to 2 days in the short term and then increase when we know he has regular work. Half the reason we are in the straits we are in now, is because DH is supposed to earn X, but ends up earning less for various reasons like being rained off etc. Self employed irregular income is a nightmare.

  • It sounds so busy Ramble. It sounds a bit like a keep calm carry on situation. Hope you can find a nursery you are happy with first and foremost. And everything else then. No wonder you haven't been posting, really honestly hope its not too stressful although it does sound it. Big hugs. xx

    Hey everyone.

Doing OK and cracking on with things. Money situ looking AWFUL. DH hasn't earnt as much as planned so we're short and have spent on CC this month. Additionally £350 spent on house / DIY necessities.
A necessary evil, but it hurts!

Good news is that house has been valued at £180K. We bought it for £132K. We're going to put it on the market at start of Jan and agent thinks it will move quickly which is good news. We've just got to finish the DIY!! Banking on it selling for more than £170K, (agent said he expected it to go for close to £180, but I don't like to believe them!) and then we'd save £50K for future house and anything we make over that will go off the debt. Plus we'll be paying lower rent so hopefully our debt situ will quickly improve. All looks positive (unless you take into account how much we've spent on the house, in which case we'll break even at £170K, but at least we've had somewhere to live for 3 years!)

Still got EF of £1K. Not going to use this to pay off debt. Holding for just in case. Tax bill to come. DH's van MOT to come.
Christmas mostly done. Solar payment to come in too. Nov was a 5 week month so DH getting a little extra this month. Nursery going to be a bit cheaper too in December.

Deep breaths - we will survive!

Fun and games continue here. Driving home from work yesterday afternoon and someone went in the back of my car!!!! Said their brakes failed! I was stationary, as it was a narrow lane and there was a car ahead.
    Boo!!!!

Waiting to find out what's going to happen with my car and a appointment with doctors as have shoulder and neck pain! (This might be my get out of DIY free card....would be funny if we weren't working to a deadline on the house!)

Anyway, crossing my fingers they will do a repair rather than write it off. My car came off a lot better than the lady who crashed into me. On the positive side, they've sorted me out a hire car pretty sharpish so won't be without wheels.

Did a big shop on Friday, and then had a low spend weekend so that feels good.
