I started doing mine but unfortunately lacked the patience as it has to be in real time and you have to remember to be around to stop it, switch the discs, etc. I found a local company who transfers the camcorder tapes to DVDs for £6 each. Sanity saving if not money saving.

Thank you for your input and I can see your point, of time involvement. The idea is a great one, but I have a couple of dozen of these mini-DV cassettes, so I will have to be patient.

re one of the previous answers;


install a firewire card into your pc, checking first that it supports your operating system, buy a firewire to firewire cable with ends that match the camera and card,


Today I asked a computer company if they could supply a firewire card as suggested, I gave them the particulars, as above re the computer information and their answer has confused me rather, what they said was ; 'your computer does not have a Cardbus slot'


Any ideas folks what this is at all please?
