Paint in car
Hi,
Need some help here - I was driving in France - had a large pot of paint from B&Q to paint outside of house - anyway you know what happened - to avoid hitting another driver had to slam brakes on very hard - lid came off - now paint all over back of 1 seat ...
So question is - how do I get the paint off the back of seat??? Any ideas?
Thanks Mark

Depends on the paint. Emulsion should wash out if the seat cover can be removed. Gloss paint would take solvent which may damage the fabric. Might be easier to get a matching second hand car as they are only held in by a few torx screws.0

I'd second this - a replacement seat from a scrappy won't be much, and might be the simplest solution. If you're at all worried about what the previous owner might have "spilled" on it, you can give it a thorough clean and make sure it's completely dried out before you put it in your car. Far easier to do this whilst it's sat on a bench in the garage, or outdoors somewhere :-)0

If it was an oil/solvent based paint it can also damage the seat foam, likewise if you use a solvent cleaner if you don't remove the cover. As suggested a good secondhand seat would probably be your best bet.0

when i transport paint in the car I tape the lid on, plastic tubs 5ltr or larger are horrendous for popping lids in any kind of knock / drop situation. Cleaning up people used to take them for a full valet and pay a few £ extra when they had a paint spill. B&Q get complaints about spilled paint in cars week in week out. They have a std letter saying "transport of goods is beyond our control" etc. Timbercare products are the worst, very regularly spill even if tub just falls over going round a bend.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Hi
Thanks for this - it is this paint - water based - http://www.diy.com/departments/colours-pebble-grey-smooth-masonry-paint-5l/262281_BQ.prd
As to getting a replacement from a scrappy - problem is that it is brand new Mondeo - new model - so not sure will be able to get anything.
Lucky for me, I have a boot liner - so most of the paint went into the boot liner which could be washed out.

Face facts it's !!!!ed. Either buy a new one or claim on the insurance.0

If you look on ebay mondeo breaking, im sure a proper breaker would sell you a rear seat section cheaper than an insurance claim.0

Seat cover till you can get a new seat.0
-
If it's any paint like our decorators van, you'll never get it out0
-
Buy more of the same paint and chuck it over the other seats so they all match.0
