Sorry to hear that, what a pain. You gave them the benefit of the doubt, I would have probably done the same.

Thanks, we just presumed that as we hadn't heard anything it meant everything was going through fine. We now know for next time though.
  • Not only do these behaviors ruin your agent's day, but they can ultimately work against you, too.

As above - check with your solicitor to confirm *exactly* what has happened.

Don't trust your EA as this isn't really their job - they may not know (or be telling) all the facts.

    May I respectfully disagree.

Something like this is exactly the type of issue your EA should be keeping on top of.

In my experience a solicitor does not have time to spend chasing a prospective buyer's solicitor.

The second from last EA I bought through was fantastic and really held the sale together and communicated with everyone. I also had another who was great at communication and knew exactly what was going on. Unfortunately, they are the only two... the others (total of 7 purchases) didn't know their a$$ from their elbow :o

I agree to a degree - our last ea was very very good.

However, my point was that it is important to know exactly what is happening before doing something drastic like pulling out of the sale.

That info is only going to come from your solicitor (i.e. a professional who is being paid to get things right).

Well our buyer never instructed/appointed a solicitor. When the offer was agreed they gave the name of a local solicitor to the estate agents but they never went any further then that. Therefore the only people our buyer was in contact with was the estate agent.

Think the two solicitors speak pretty soon on so surprised your solicitor didn't say that they'd not had any contact or that their solicitor didn't seem to know who they were.

That's the theory, all depends on how on the ball the solicitor(s) are.

Seven weeks though? Not very 'on the ball' it would seems lol. I'd be inclined to use another firm if/when I did sell...
