Carphone Warehouse - Upgraded phone instore and can't exchange it?

I'm posting on behalf of a friend.

She went into Carphone Warehouse and upgraded her EE contract to a new iPhone. She got it home and changed her mind. She went back to the store yesterday to return but they said she's not allowed to. The product is still sealed and hasn't been opened.

She just wants to change to a different phone. Is there anything she can do? It does say on the T&C no return but I think that's a little harsh.

P.S. This has also taught me to NEVER upgrade/buy a phone instore.

Sounds correct, change of mind returns on items bought in store are strictly down to to return policy of the store.

No item bought in a shop has a statutory right change of mind return.
