Are airlines lying to customers?

In summary, as we have stated, airlines obfuscate, procrastinate and lie to passengers in an effort to reduce their liability for reg 261/2004 payouts.
That is well established, the CAA are aware of it but refuse to do anything about.
Rant by all means.
Bottom line is it won't affect your claim progress and if it gets to court it won't impress or affect a judge, possibly the reverse.
That is all.

Never got to updating this..

We were compensation £1500 which included:

EU Compensation
Travel home and back
Additional subsistence
Good will gesture

We have just returned from another holiday on Kos with Jet2 and it was great from the beginning and will be flying with them again..
