    The most important thing to remember is that a house that needs work doing to it will nearly always cost more in the long run than one that has had the work done. What this means is that you need to have more cash available to pay for the work than you would need if you bought a house with a mortgage that someone else had done the work on.

    You don't get all the money back that you have spent on repairs in a house's value.

    I do know developers have been off put because they can't recoup their costs....Saying that though, I'm not sure how far into it they actually went. (I know, much, much more research needed)

    So you won't recoup your costs either.
    If you're going to live there forever and have the cash, go ahead. If not you need to seriously think of the impact on your wallet
