Out of interest what was the problem Fran? Was it technical or user error?
I fortunately had no problems from the login information I was given, Pipex disconnected, entered the new login info into the router and away it went.0 -
It is some problem to do with my main computer which I haven't sorted out yet. When I eventually tried one of the other computers they connected ok (network of 3). There is no way the computer would connect to the internet. I will need to be in a patient mood with lots of spare time to try again!Torgwen..........

I came across adsl4less last December. I had heard good things about Hotchilli broadband so finding that adsl4less re-sell Hotchilli but at a lower price, it seemed perfect. There is of course the set up fee (if you are not migrating) and there is no equipment included but you can buy it from them (or cheaper elsewhere). I ordered the 512k uncapped service for my father from them in Dec, also ordering a wireless router from them. They connected on the required date, it was simple to set up and he has had no problems with it whatsoever.
I wanted to migrate to it myself but TelecomPlus are not at all cooperative with people who want to leave them!
Adsl4less let you use their connection with your own email addresses (ie. you can use their smtp server to send emails using your existing addresses). They also don't charge you extra if you want to use your connection for business (some ISPs make you use higher priced but otherwise identical packages if there will be any business use).
A couple of months ago I signed up to the 1Mb service for my office. Again, no problems with start up (and it was working a few days before the official turn-on date). I am again using a wireless router (this time the Netgear DG834GT with free wireless G PC card from Amazon). I don't put it to any heacy use and could probably have managed with the 512k.
The only problem I have had was on 1 June when emails sent via the Hotchilli smtp server went missing for a full day before being delivered (I checked the headers in the emails when they did arrive to see where the delay was). The problem lasted intermittently for several hours.
I have only needed to contact adsl4less once which was to switch from credit card billing to direct debit. Their procedure for switching was that once you receive your invoice, you log onto their control panel and select that you want to pay by dd. That doesn't work because invoiced paid by credit card are paid before the invoice appears in control panel and you cannot acces the form if you do not have any unpaid invoices! However, adsl4less promptly replied to my email, giving me a direct link to the necessary page which was not available via the control panel menu so it was sorted quickly. I didn't telephone them because their contact number is an 0871.
Sorry this has been long. Hope it has been of some use to someone.0
