Shower draining really slowly

Thank you all so much for the replies guys! My dad had some caustic soda which we used last night which seems to have cleared it thankfully
Going to try to pick up a plunger in case it happens again though (if it was just the shower I would've avoided the caustic soda and went straight for a plunger, but figured it was much further down in the pipework somehow) - we left it working and went into the kitchen, and heard a loud gurgling from the utility room - so I'm guessing that was where it was blocked up (even though the downstairs stuff was draining fine)

So a few months later, and it's back to how it was before
So far we've tried:
Tesco Sink and drain unblocker
Buster bathroom plug unblocker
Caustic Soda
Plunger
Jeyes drain unblocker
Toilet ninja
The only things which seem to have had any effect are the caustic soda which fixed it temporarily, but was a nightmare to use and has marked the door frame next to the plug and a plunger which does something (I can hear it moving stuff around in the pipes) but still after a ridiculous amount of plunging hasn't really fixed anything.
The shower isn't plunagable which doesn't help, it seems to have an odd design whereby the water goes slowly out from the top of the waste? http://i.imgur.com/q8MT82C.jpg
I'm going to get some of the Power Plumber Instant Drain Clearer now but if that doesn't work I'm not sure what to try next. Might try Dynorod though looking at their prices I think it's going to be £145+ VAT - when I plunge the sink the water in the toilet and shower moves which implies that it's a problem quite deep in the pipes
Tempted by the One Shot Drain Cleaner but worried that it's pretty potent stuff after reading a few scare stories.0 -

Theres a surprise.
Before asking a plumber for some drain acid try a thermo reactive drain cleaner.
Once clean you need to get into the habit of leaving the shower running to clear away soap/ shampoo/ conditioner scum or this will persist.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

We recently has exactly the same problem, shower tray filling up and flushing loo makes it drain and gurgle. When the loo was flushed the bowl was filling high up.
After doing all sorts of potential remedies (some from this thread) I called in my local plumber. After some thoughts around a vent pipe he discovered a large blockage in the trap towards the septic tank.
A few good old shoves with his rods the whole thing cleared with a mighty noise and all is well now. I've never seen my plumber so happy as that day, he loves to clear a blockage!
Might be time for professional help.0 -
