Fault in 'waterfall' style bathroom tap. Water goes everywhere.

Our bathroom features 'waterfall' style taps and the one in the sink is developing a fault. Instead of flowing out smoothly and falling nicely into the sink, there is some kind of turbulence as it exits the tap and consequently it is becoming increasingly difficult to turn it on without getting soaked. poured the liquid in the well and let's soak around the gauze for an hour. Worked a treat. I guess any good limescale product will work as long as you can make a little well to hold it. Saved the hassle of replacing the tap.
