No, I don't have unlimited data, in fact being new to this, I have 250mb, so use home wifi and hotspots and family. Will use data sparingly otherwise.
Now I will look at settings>back up to google account, be back soon
PS, now that's interesting, the test photo I took some 20 mins ago, is there now visible on laptop and ipad. So how come it took so long?. I could easily have clicked on things. I will take another and time it. OK, 8.30, well sod me, 5 mins.
So at least I now know when I'm holiday, every pic taken will be viewable on my three devices, plus, if I use family laptop and log into my google account, I should be able to see them there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. sync time depends on size of file and speed of connections. for normal use and piece of mind you need at least 500mb of data these days. i pay £5 per month for 200 mins/unlimited texts/500mb data with bt."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

I take on board what you are saying.
Using SIM only a year ago for £8 a month, EE gave me 250mins/250 text/250mb, but had internet turned off because of over using.
Then I moved on to Life Mobile at £6 with 1000 mins/unlimited texts/1GB but it was 3g and I could barely raise a website using their data, it was better using local hotspots. After about three months moved back to EE.
Now it is 250 mins (I think, but adequate) unlimited texts and 250 mb at £9.99, call it £10. I am telling myself it is a £2 increase only (conveniently forgetting Life at £6). The difference is, when I do use data at 4g, it is great. I currently have it off, and will do whilst abroad anyway as I will be using my daughter's home wifi and town hotspots. Voice calls or video via skype, messenger, facetime, hangouts etc.
I am sure that when the 12 month contract is up, I will take ouyt a SIM only deal from another provider. Already my s-i-l will be ready to tell me of cheaper deals. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You can get 1GB of data with some sim only plans, it all depends how much you want to spend. As your with EE maybe try and get them to increase the data.0 -
Whoa!.....You set Google Photo's to only upload when connected to WiFi (Look in the settings) so that it doesn't use any of your Data.
You take the photo's you want and when you get back into your house it will automatically upload anything you have taken....No need for you to actually do anything.
This may have been already set, it's usually the default setting, which may account for the delay in your upload taking time and appearing on all of your devices.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
