Nectar - Sainsbury's triple points not actually triple points?

Let me run this by you....

You get a bonus triple points voucher, you spend £20.12, your points are awarded on that £20.12

The receipt says you get 20 points earned & your bonus points are 40??

Surely if you're earning 20 points & you have a triple points booster your voucher should be 60 points earning you a total of 80 points for that transaction??

I know that especially with the re-work of the points system that the figures i've given will probably equate to about 0.5p if i'm lucky, but it's not the point.

I had one receipt the other week where i spent £30 but points were only awarded on about £14 of it. That was confusing.

    .

Its one nectar point per pound so a triple points voucher would make it 3 nectar points per pound so thats correct getting 60 points for a £20 spend.

    From the T&C
Nectar points are not available on the following limited range of Sainsbury's goods and services: savings stamps, car park tickets, vending machines, cash back, postage stamps, gift vouchers, baby milk products, lottery tickets, tobacco kiosk, proprietary medicine, spirits and liqueurs, mobile phone cards and mobile phone vouchers. Points are also not available in Sainsbury's concessions or franchises.
Points cannot be earned on any element of a transaction which is paid for by redeeming points.

Any of that apply to your purchase?

    Single points on a £20 spend = 20

    Triple points on a £20 spend = 20+40 = 60

60 is three times 20. Or, as mathematicians might put it, triple.

If you play darts, would you expect to get 80 points for a treble 20?!

title of thread needs changing to

    maths isnt my strong point
  • No need to be a smart @rse. You may as well sod off with that unhelpful attitude.

It's pretty obvious where i got the 60 from without you trying to be clever.

20 points for the singular transaction.

Voucher gives you triple points so 20*3=60 added to the standard 20 points for a total of 80. I thought the voucher was tripling your standard to add with your standard. It turns out that isn't the case, wow, big deal, shoot me.

    I wasn't asking what is 20*3 was i now.

So why not go be a smart @rse elsewhere?!

No doubt you'll have some 'clever' response for my post but read the thread back & take a look where the attitude began .... again! I'll give you a clue .... towards the end of post #5 & the waste of time that is post #6.

Did the voucher say "triple points", or did it say "triple points plus your original points"?

.... towards the end of post #5 & the waste of time that is post #6.

Let's take another look at the last sentence in post #5.

Have you got an answer to that question?

    Triple points means triple points.

    Not quadruple points.

    Not an extra 'triple points'

    Just triple points.

    Yeah that's fine.

Just don't understand why people get so uppity that someone asked.

So they didn't know? Big deal.

Should be common sense? Big deal.

I was just checking, so what? What's the harm? Did it hurt anyones feelings? So some thought i should know & i didn't for 100%, so what? What's the big problem?

Do these people such as the post #6 guy take the piddle out of people who can't read for example? Just because they can?

Since when did it become a positive thing to ridicule someone who didn't know something regardless of how stupid or simple they feel it is?

Don't blame others because you don't understand what x3 equals.

    The darts example is perfect.

If it said an extra triple points then your understanding would be justified.

    But it didn't did it?
