Best PAYG provider for temporary port?
Hi all
I'm coming to the end of my 24 months on Three and my handset has all but given up the ghost with just over a month to go. I've looked around and the best deal I can find for what I want is also on Three, but when I called up to see about early upgrade they can't offer me anything even close.
Anyway, I've signed up for the new deal and I know that for a month I'll essentially be double paying, but the cashback offer and the trade in value for the old handset (even in the state it's in) will easily cover the difference and leave me in a better position.
Basically my question is, I know I need to port out to a PAYG SIM and back in to Three again, but does anyone have any experiences with which network this is easiest to do it with? I don't want to be stuck with my number ported onto a PAYG SIM and find I've chosen a network who won't port it out again for X days, etc, so all suggestions welcome!

Easiest to port in and out of in my experience is giffgaff since everything is done online. Unfortunately you have to start a sim off with £10, then port in, then port out. No way round the original £10 though. As far as i know you can port in one day and port out in maybe a couple of days but you'd lose the tenner if you didn't use it.0

I've used various prepaid sim cards, and ported out almost immediately, without topping up.
O2 pay as you go was my first choice but any big provider will do.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Not used to port but ASDA have free sim, online, plus comes with a few call / text minutes already on so could be handyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Thanks all - after spending 20 minutes repeating the phrase "No, I just want my PAC" to Three support yesterday before finally getting it I've gone with GiffGaff so that I don't have to repeat that experience, I can just request it on the website without speaking to anyone! I also like that I can donate the remaining credit on the PAYG SIM to charity before switchover happens (although I know technically I could do that anyway by texting a charity of my choice but I probably wouldn't have even thought of it if they didn't suggest it on their site).0
