Is that correct ?
I have just started using a hotmail account that I set up over 6 years ago and I had never used.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -

Well their account definitely wasn't hacked because a hacker would use the discovered vunerabiluty to steal the passwords of thousands of users and not just one!.
When you see hundreds of people giving their passwords out through phishing attempts and blaming it on their account being hacked it's easier to just say it can't be hacked!.0 -

My security procedures are very strict and I never succumbe to phishing requests. I think there's a bit of naivety going on here. Any account can be hacked. The perbs use a password seeking program that sifts through 1000s of permutations very quickly. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Like I said above, its easier to say it can't be hacked when someone has given out their password to a phishing attempt and think they have been hacked!.0 -

The simple fact is that your Hotmail account wasn't hacked and you have given out your password through a phishing attempt or through spyware on your computer!. So your not as secure as you think!.
You cannot use a "password seeking program" on Hotmail accounts!. After a couple of incorrect password attempts you have to enter captcha which no program can do!. Then even if they did start manually entering the captcha after less than 20 attempts the account will not allow anymore!.
So I would call your security procedures slack at best considering you have had an account compromised!. Plus you obviously never even used two step verification either.0 -

Sooo, Hotmails accounts can't be hacked eh https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=hotmail+account+hacked&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
If so how come so much writing has been devoted to it?You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

that is NOT hotmail being hacked, that is your personal computer/security being hacked and them taking your password.
look at it like this.
a) I walk up to your car, break in, and start the engine without a key, your car has been "hacked".
b) If I break into your house, take the car key, and drive away, your house has been "hacked" but your car has not.
In case a) the car manufacturer is to blame for lax security.
In case b) you are to blame for poor personal security.
Hotmail "hacks" are case b's.0 -

Exactly as martinsurrey has explained above. As far as I am aware Hotmail has never been hacked and if it was it would be all over the news just like other big hacks.
You seem not understand what hacking actually is so that's why I said "Hotmail can't be hacked" because even though I have clearly explained it to you you still don't understand!!!.
So you really need to revisit how you protect your computer and look after your passwords because if you have had a Hotmail account accessed by someone else then you have given out your password, it's as simple as that!. It may have been a phishing attempt or it may be spywear on your computer. But if it's happened and you don't understand why then it can easily happen again and to your other accounts.0
