HSBC Advance Bank Account Application

I have just applied for the HSBC Advance Bank Account online using the "Apply online" tab and filling out all my details, but....
It says in the FAQ that "You can apply for HSBC Advance either in branch or by telephone". I then rang up the telephone number and they told me on the phone that "you cannot apply for the account online" and that i would have to give him all my details again (because he couldn't access the online application) and he would then be able to book an appointment with a local branch. I decided not to do this because i had already applied online and didn't want them having two applications from me!.
So it appears applying online is pointless and just delays the process. I'm now considering going into the branch tomorrow morning to complete the application.
Does anyone know if they will be able to access the online application and complete it in branch?. If they can't then it looks like i will just have to wait until i get a letter.

Probably not much point without an appointment, especially on a Saturday.I'm now considering going into the branch tomorrow morning to complete the application.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Seems odd, I've got a HSBC Advance account, and I'm sure I opened it entirely online. I definitely wouldn't have bothered with the hassle of going to a branch, so I must have!0

It says on the website you can apply online, did you try that?

I opened a normal HSBC account online, a few weeks later tried to upgrade on the phone to advance. They gave me some flannel about you must have the account three months before they would upgrade.
Suspected the guy was talking rubbish, so just walked into the local branch telling them I wanted an upgrade, they asked for proof of my annual income, which I provided, account was upgraded straight away.
Go into branch, you have nothing to lose, people book appointments and don't turn up.0 -

Yes that is what I filled out but it just said they would contact me within 5 working days. Then the person on the phone led me to believe that it couldn't be opened online and all I would get as a result of that application is a letter to arrange an appointment!.0 -

Maybe they didn't like the answer to my questions and want to review my application!. I did say I had accounts elsewhere and that I wouldn't be paying my salary into it but I would be paying the £1750 from savings accounts.
Maybe I was too honest :rotfl:0 -
I have heard a number of ppl saying they needed to complete the application at a branch - after applying online they later received a letter with a ref. number. They were asked to provide three months pay slips.
I suspect they really want ppl to pay in their salary - even though they do not specify that it must be a salary in the terms.0 -

I would assume they want people who earn over £1750 a month take home, but considering I said I wouldn't be paying my salary into it they may reject it just for that!.
If they cause me too much hassle I'll just have to take £150 from the Co-Op instead!.0 -

You can switch.
HSBC seem to be getting a bit more strict with this account.
I am working my way up to a premier account, let us see how easy that is to open. Another year yet.
You would think they would have an advance account plus or something, there is a bit of a gap between 27k for advance, and 50k savings or 100k salary for premier.
I have seen three or four premier cards in the last week,0
