Are all broadband providers rubbish?

Openreach are not allowed to have any favouritism towards BT over other ISPs. They may be owned by BT but they are a separate division from the retail ISP division and by the terms of the regulations they operate under they have to provide the same service levels to every ISP that uses their infrastructure. This is why Openreach did not do anything more quickly when you were with BT.
It wasn't so much that I thought there may be favouritism, it's that I thought that the guys at BT would actually take what the OR people had said and not tell me they were wrong and the problem was with caballing inside my home or my equipment after OR had ruled it out and told me (and not for the first time) what the issue actually was/is.
It just annoyed me because a big part of the reason I swapped to be with BT was because I thought they'd have decent customer service but I don't think I spoke to a single non-Indian call centre staff member for the whole time I was with them. Each time they were so bad at dealing with the issue that I'd almost compare them to Talktalk (who are half the price).0 -
Many ISPs including BT have a members forum .
These are often more useful in engaging CS help .0 -
I have to be honest I have been with Virgin Broadband for nearly 10 years, it remains really quick and I have had around 3 hours downtime in the last decade. Am I just really lucky?
Mind you I was paying about £20 a month 10 years ago. I have the full TV, Phone and Broadband now and the bill is just a wee bit higher!0 -
You maybe were really lucky as there are plenty of complaints about VM just as there are for all ISPs. I had poor service from them and wouldn't recommend them but wouldn't go out of my way to bad mouth them unless asked about specifics of the products and business methods both of which do have faults.0
