  • ta everyone - what do you mean 'leaving it late'- its only lunchtime, and I have till 9 am tomorrow!! ...actually this is quite good for me, I think I might even be able to get it done and go to sleep tonight! (was prepared to do an all-nighter if needed!)
My advice to anyone starting the process is to start early, and do a bit every day, even if its just ten minutes. Editing and re-structuring and re-writing bits at the end takes a loooong time. Also look at how they want you to reference things BEFORE YOU START and keep notes of the info you need for your bibliography - remember, not just book titles, authors, page numbers etc, but web pages, urls and 'date accessed'... I say this because I didnt note the date accessed and had to spend a day trawling through old files to get the info!!! aaarrgghh

I examine MScs and have to use a very rigid grading criteria. It's very useful to try and get one to keep to hand ;)

I always make up my 'date acessed' things...probably shouldn't do that for my dissertation!

    Congratulations!

When do you get your results? I really need to decide what to for mine
  • I dont thinkget my mark back till late december!!

Yeah, I found that deciding what to do was the hardest part, and every time I thought I had a good idea my tutor made me think again... I did the masters part time over two years, whilst working, but then was seriously ill twice in the last couple of years (after I had done the rest of the assignments), so I deferred the dissertation a couple of times, but its all done now and I am relieved!

    What are you studying BTW?

What's your Masters in? I'm fascinated just by the title.

  • hi,

Gemmzie - I am fascinated that you are fascinated by the title... I have spent so much time writing about it that the thought of it makes my brain switch off today!

The course was called Community Education when I started it, but has now changed to something else.. basically aimed at youth workers, as it incorporates the youth work professional qualification.

I used to work with a group of kids with long term health issues, and realised how socially isolated some of them can become due to not being at school and therefore losing touch with friends...

so that was the initial motivation.. anyway, will shut up now or I will end up recounting the whole 20,00 words on here

The question now is, what do I do next???

    Answers on a postcard please...

I'm looking to do that as a BA. Last minute change of heart. Guess my instincts were right then :)
