Argos store cards - Over charging

Hi All, I urge anyone who had an argos store card to look at your statements, you have likely been overpaying.

i'd even go as far to say don't accept the £100 as it is likely you've paid a lot more than this.

request a statement of account showing a break down of charges you've received. then from there raise a complaint asking for a refund of fees and interest paid.

    Bit OTT . . .

Argos themselves identified a problem and have reported it:
The news was announced by the boss of the Home Retail Group, which owns Argos <snip> Affected customers will be written to in the next few weeks

yeah but my experience with these companies is that usually you have paid more than the redress they are offering.

The only reason why they are even offering the compensation is because the real figure will be a lot higher than they want you to believe.

so not OTT, it's not out of order to reclaim money you've overpaid back in full..

Can you elaborate on what the experience you refer to having with Argos is?

In practice (i.e. the real world) the companies will have either been told what they have to pay back, or will have proposed a formula for what they intend to pay back that has been vetted and agreed by the FCA.

The logical thing to do is wait and see what is offered, rather than demanding an amount up front and then looking a complete turnip because you've asked for less than they planned to give you anyway.

Companies such as? Compensation lower than the real figure in the case of?

Two easy questions you've had experience of, I'd genuinely like to see the answers.

It interests me as to why you all felt the need to jump in with sly little comments it's a help board. I haven't said anything unjust I people need to look at their statements.

They are a business they are aware of their charges.. you as a consumer are allowed to know what exactly you are paying and should expect them to charge what they are advertising

Again anyone looking for some extra information on the subject are free to interoperate as they see..

Examples of overpaying.. PPI. Payday loans.. water rates and phone companies... oh and banks... theres a long list.

    Read my post
If they contact you offering ask for your statements. they've admitted fault here I don't care what some director has agreed to pay so it doesn't damage them the most financially.. if I overpaid you can expect I will be asking for that overpayment back in full..

Regardless of your opinion this is what I would do. & Anyonr with common sense would do it as well
