Thanks for all the great help so far. Now her indoors has came up with the idea of travelling down the night before thus saving a very early start on day of holiday. So next question is, what about hotel and parking option. Again had a look online but has anyone got any recommendations, tips, links for savings?

You can either stay away from the airport, either in Manchester city centre, or on an outskirt such as Heald Green, even Stockport at a push; (there's some great hotels a short drive away) or stay at the airport - I like the Hilton and Bewley's at the airport.

You'd need to have a look at each and decide what you want to do.

There's also a thread on here about airport hotels at manchester and hotels around the airport - I'm sure a quick search would bring it up.

Check out the premier Inn stay and park offers, can work out reasonable for meet and greet parking

Have done and that's it booked. Worked out not too bad considering, that's a night in the Premier Inn and no early start then Meet and Greet parking for the duration. Once again thanks to all fellow MSE posters for your help

Wilmslow train station or Heald Green station might be of assistance
