    You are assuming things.

For a bank to close an account takes some doing, you're clearly very high risk.

What the CRAs view you as has no bearing on how the banks do.

    Thank you!
Do you know anywhere I can check any marks in my file that may be holding me back please?
  • Anyone thinks the credit-building credit cards help?? What will happen if I close it after I have my normal current account?

Which one is the best please?

On-line reviews of those cards terrified me.

Instead of applying online you could actually do it the old fashion way and hike to a bank and get it done in person, that usually works hella better than online applications when there is no credit history to speak of. Worked for me fine, and within first 3 months in UK I went from basic to proper bank account with lloyds.
Of course for you it will be harder, as I had no histroy and you got some serious red flags with no history beside them. Especially the one that boggles us all - why was your current account closed, because I am quite sure that you know why and that it wasn't for missed phone bills, banks don't operate that way. Did you lie on the application form about amount of income, or where is that income coming from?
Anyway just go in person and keep your fingers crossed, without telling us why they terminated your account (and reason for it was most likely provided with the closing letter) we can't help more than that.

As for credit building cards, sure they will help - after months of using them and paying off in full every month. But given how much of a red flag you seem to be I wouldn't hold my breath for getting non-prepaid one.

The only reason a bank will close an account is if you owe them money or you have CIFAS markers.

    Which is it?

I didn't lie. I don't know why they closed my account, and that is what I am trying to find out. HSBC just sent me a letter one day saying they are closing my account. Then a cheque followed up with my balance. I went to the bank, called the on-line banking, they just wouldn't provide me any information on why they decided to close my account.

I need all of your advice now, so I just tell the whole story for you to advise me on this.

I certainly will check with CIFAS. Do you know anywhere else besides CIFAS that I need to check please?
