I had to fly home urgently from Fuertevenura to the UK back on the 14th January this year as my Father was taken seriously ill.
I bought tickets for the following flights as follows;
IB3907 13:50 Fueteventura to Madrid
IB3718 18:15 Madrid to Gatwick
At 18:00 on the 14th Iberia cancelled the flight due to a fault with the aircraft and we were told to return to the airport the following morning.
On the 15th January we took off at 08:30 to Madrid. It was the same aircraft that had been worked on all afternoon the day before.
When I got to Madrid, there were no flights to Gatwick, just two to Heathrow.. I managed to get on the earlier flight and finally arrived in Heathrow at 14:45 (local time) on the 15th January.
I contacted Iberia Airways and they have just dismissed my case, closed it without informing me and obviously paid no compensation, complaint reference C16011-3259394105 refers.
I then found your Resolver tool on the website and used that to continue my claim with Iberia. Despite escalating the complaint right the way to the top man at Iberia, I have never yet received one reply to my emails.
I tried to claim through the CAA, but they advise it is not down to them as my flight was not leaving from a UK airport.
Sadly my Father died just a few days after I arrived home, and I have been trying to get this matter sorted ever since.
Can you please help?
With anticipated thanks

start with Vauban's guide on the "read this first" thread and then read the "other EU airlines" thread for others experience of dealing with Iberia0
