Help.my wife is in Lanzarote for 7 days starting today. We love to keep in touch and I am still here in the UK.
we both have windows phones and I set up Vodaphone Eurotraveller on my wifes phone yesterday before she left.
After landing she recived the welcome to spain text turned her phone off for five mins then tried to ring me .........no joy she can only text me.
I have rung her no prob but thats gonna be expensive. The only other thing I did was turn data roming off on her phone.
Any idea why she cant call but can recieve calls?

She needs to call you using +44 instead of the initial zero of your number.
It will cost you nothing more than usual for your calls to her number, and (presumably) her incoming call will be as part of the Vodafone deal.
If you both install WhatsApp or Viber from the Microsoft store, when she has WiFi you can talk for as long as you like for free.Evolution, not revolution0 -
If you turned off data roaming i don't think she will be able to use her vodafone data allowance.
If you just want calls and text, it may be cheaper to not use the eurotraveller scheme.
If you don't use eurotraveller these are the charges:
Canary Islands to contact United Kingdom
Charges
Make a call 4.3p a minute
Receive a call 0.9p a minute
Send a text 1.6p a text
picture message 4.3p a picture message
Use data 4.3p a MB

It will depend how they've implemented roaming as many networks don't require international dialling codes when calling home. She needs to call you using +44 instead of the initial zero of your number.

Contacted Vodafone and they say all is well at there end .said to remove sim and reboot phone then replace sim and try again.this did not work, replacing first 0 with 44 did not work .she can only send texts so i am having to call her from my phone here in uk .Might be best for her to cancel euro traveler now as i am making the calls to her.Keep in your thoughts the poor Beasts of burden around the World and curse All who do them harm.0

She will still need it as it will cover the cost of the calls to her, otherwise she will be paying for each call, it depends on how many calls you are making of course0 -

However, as Heng Leng points out, this may not be the issue.Evolution, not revolution0 -
I'm not sure it's a dial prefix issue, but for info... An iPhone has a "dial assist" setting, it automatically determines the correct international or local dialling prefix. Is there a similar setting on a Windows phone? It might be worth checking.0

went on you tube and typed in my problem .Found a vid that said go into call settings and disable "international assist":T the wife has done this and can now call me.
Another thing seems to be Euro traveler seems a bit of a waste if you make sure the person in the UK makes the calls and the person Abroad limits there Texts and makes no callsKeep in your thoughts the poor Beasts of burden around the World and curse All who do them harm.0
