• Thankyou Kimevans. Good to hear from someone who has stayed there.

I have emailed the hotel for a spa price list via their online enquiry service, they say they have sent it but not recieved it yet! Not upgraded to a sea view room, may email them and ask how much it will be. We have asked for interconnecting or adjoining as we are taking our 19 and 12 year old with us.

They say that even though its last week of season everything wil be open fully and I hear as its end of season there maybe more bargains to be had.

Just out of interest, when haggling how low do you start? 50% off or lower?
Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!

I have been to Turkey twice now, once to Bodrum (as a young lad) and once to Kalkan, Bodrum very loud and a little brash but pleanty of places to relax and escape the crowds, Kalkan by far and away the best place I have been on holiday to, nice and small and quie unspoilt.
In bodrum there was a lot of people trying to get you into shops and lots of shoeshine boys who would try and clean your shoes if you stopped walking for a second but after a few days of saying no thanks they pretty much stopped asking and never felt intimiadated.
In Kalkan no hassel at all, lots of nice restaurants and cafes and really cheap as well.
Have found the people really friendly and welcoming and dont think that anyone tried to rip us off
I would take a few lire but rest in sterling travelers cheques and get them changed over there, much better exchange rate in my opinion and no shortage of places to exchange cash

Spa prices
I had a Turkish bath & full body massage at a place arranged by the travel agent across the road from the ADR. It was about £30, the spa at the ADR was more. The place I went to was fab, so clean & new. Huge Turkish bath, cool jacuzzi/plunge pool. Great massage.

Your room will probably be a long room (with patio doors & balcony at one end) divided into two by a bathroom in the middle. Thats how the family rooms tend to be. But it means that someone has the internal room.

Haggling is a play it by ear sort of thing. But the last week they will be very keen to sell. Don't act to interested/bothered & walk away, they will follow.

You MUST go to Gumusluk village for a special meal. We went to the Aquarium (if you search on my posts you will find all about it).

Sea view is well worth the upgrade. I think we paid about £80, but you pay more as their are four of you.
They also do Jacuzzi suites (with the jacuzzis on the balcony overlooking the sea), they are a lot extra).
• Thank you for that, i will have a search through the posts for this restaurant - is it on this bit or elsewhere in travel tips and holidays.:T

SORRY, IT WS ON A HOLIDAY WEBSITE I POSTED IT, HERE IT IS....

I wanted to say thank you for recommending Gumusluk to me. We had a great meal at the Aquarium restaurant, we would have gone to Bodrum for a special restaurant if not for you suggesting Gumusluk in the first place.

We had a prawn risotto starter for 2, 2 fillet steaks with a few homemade chips, we also shared a salad & the chef took it upon himself to make us a sauce (mushroom & tomato) to go with the steak, I then had a chocolate fondue (they called it a fondue, but it was actually a hot fondue within a very soft chocolate sponge pillow), they teamed this will a plate of strawberries, 3 tiny pots of caster sugar: whipped cream & single cream, husband said he didn't want pudding but they brought him a plate & he wasted no time helping himself to half of mine!!! & two coffees served on a tray loaded with fresh flowers. They provided bread, butter & large bottles of bottled water on all the tables, along with flowers & floating candles.
The bill £30 in our money, minus any alcoholic drinks but including a service charge!!!! A little piece of heaven for a very cheap price. They also tried to give us liquiors on the house, but we hardly drink so we refused them.

The owner of this restaurant will collect & return you up to as far as Bodrum I believe. While we were there he was being filmed for a TV doc on Gumusluk about fish levels & fish restaurants (I think he said, but fish anyway).

Everyone who holidays on the Bodrum penninuslar needs to visit Gumusluk for a meal. We went a little earlier & gave ourselves a hour to visit rabbit island & have a look around the little harbour area.

The phone number to book the free bus to & from the Aquarium restaurant is +90 252 394 3682, from resort I think I just dialed the last seven digits.

He has a VW mini bus (like the dolmus) & I think he can carry at least 8.

The website is www.aquariumgumusluk.com

& email is info@aquariumgumsluk.com
