There is no "insult". In fact you've just reinforced my point.0 -

What I've learnt from reading marksoton's posts is; If it's not enough to be an arrogant and intolerable know it all, just throw the odd insult in for good measure. That'll endear people to you.0

I'd do as suggested, find the manuals online, print them out and give them to the LL.
If there is any quibble with returning your deposit, I would dispute it with the deposit protection scheme. Dog eared old manuals replaced with freshly printed ones doesn't seem like a £50 loss for a landlord.0 -

trying to get a little back towards the topic...
I was under the impression that a LL cant claim betterment so where does an inflated fee of £50 fit into that description.
surely the OP needs to replace the manuals yes...but I see no real difference in them being in a manufactures booklet form or printed from the internet...it is afterall the same information and it could be suggested that newly printed documents are potentially of a better quality and cleanlinesses than a manual that is several years old.
Still I cant see the justification of a £50 chargefrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Now who's throwing insults around.....
Endear? It's not a popularity contest pal.
Presumably you post because you think you've got something of value to add and want people to listen to you, or are you in the 'post for a reaction' camp as your signature suggests?
I'm definitely not your pal.0 -

£30 an hour to pay someone to search for the manuals on t'internet and £20 to order them printed and bound with spiral ring binder, plastic cover etc.
I would dispute the charge but I would also download and print them myself and offer them to the LL. They are of no real value whether they are the originals or copies.:footie:
