If your employment income is your only income then you deduct it from that.

And they will then return your renewal with your employment income back to what it says on your P60. They do this every year. You then have to write back with the correct information, so don't forget.

Unfortunately if renewal happens after the end of July when the awards are finalised, as happened last year, it's very hard to get the deductions at all.

When you get the 'final' award, whenever that is, you have 30 days to submit a mandatory reconsideration. Of course it's a lot less than 30 days in reality because they send everything second class.

If you're going on holiday etc it might be worth ringing them before you go to ask if they've sent the final award, and if so what income it was based on. If they'll tell you that on the phone... Then put in a MR if they've ignored your figures.

Yes - well, a mandatory reconsideration is quite hard I think compared to previous years when the award has come before the finalisation date at the end of July, I think. Then it's just a quick phone call or letter to get it sorted.

The P60 figure can be easily overwritten if renewing by phone.
