There was a report in a national newspaper only a few weeks ago where someone phoned the police to report burglary in progress and they declined to attend. Owner had to sit and watch the video footage from afar as everything was stolen.0

Ya I watched it on BBC, that's why I said the police don't care as its not a high priorityWhat happens if you push this button?0 -
If there is no danger to life then it is a very low priority0

I believe it's "NO priority" for the police unless there's some glory in it for them. That's not just for burglaries either. You can definitely add fraud and internet crime to the list.0

What would you prefer.
Knowing that you were being burgled when you're 500miles away. Then it spoils your holiday as well.
Or not knowing you're being burgled when you're 500miles away, and still enjoying your holiday until you get back.
I think that I would prefer the latter.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
So here's my predicament:
This highlights a gap in my opinion in the service and I was wondering if anyone is aware of a way around to get directly through to an emergency UK number from outside the UK?
It is not possible to contact UK emergency services directly whilst overseas by dialling 999/112 However I am familiar with the Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
These have local community volunteers who possibly would be able to advise you best on a course of action.
I am aware in our local scheme most local members let each other know to keep an eye on their property whilst away.
Also having a watch member contact your local police in an emergency could expedite their attendance
If you try this link http://www.ourwatch.org.uk/ it will give you a local starting point0
