Do all new TVs now have a Freeview HD tuner as standard or is it still a case of HD ready, i.e. need a HD source such as Sky HD to watch HD channels?
over 73 but not over the hill.

As of today MOST do, but certainly not all. As you go down to smaller sizes, say under 32", you might find there's only a Freeview tuner, not FreeviewHD, so HD Ready, and needs another source.
You'll also find that smaller TVs are not 'Full HD' - that means 1080 lines. 720 lines is simply 'HD'. You need to look out for both these things.
You don't mention what size or budget you're going for, but I'd want both at this point, unless it's a tiny occasional TV.
Also not that if you're plugging a Sky box or whatever in, you may not use the Freeview, so that (FreeviewHD) might be something you can live without, but you'd still want 1080.0
