O/S Daily Thread for Tuesday 7th June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning all

After a busy weekend, a manic Monday at work and a visit from a professional declutterer I was in bed by just after 9, it was either that or start on the painkillers and bed won.

I slept through until 4:30, I now have washing on the line and am on my 2nd cuppa, hubby has a cuppa in bed, he is working 12 'til 9:30 today.

We finally have some sunshine so my hayfever has kicked in, but I'd rather be sunny and sneezy than chilly.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning, a bit like Hester (thank you for starting us off) I had a busy few days and a manic Monday but at least got through a lot of work yesterday. I went up to bed with a book at 9.30 but read only half a page before I dropped off and woke an hour later to put the light out.

It is a beautiful morning, thunderstorm is forecast for this evening but the time of that keeps getting later according to the met office.

I need to go and get ready for work soon. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Speky, those memories are lovely.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday for those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Now light, blue sky and sunshine already, was gorgeous day yesterday and the same forecast for today. Washing is ready to peg on line shortly.

Dinner last night was LO pork, other meat, cheese and potato pie, beans, a bit of a clear up. Tonight will be scampi, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I'll have fish, jacket potato and veg.

Work yesterday was either manic or very quiet, had a last minute case that was starting to get out of hand, and we were on standby to call the Police as customer was refusing to leave but my colleague managed to keep a grip on the situation and customer eventually left. I have no doubt that they will return this morning, but a decision was made by the department that was dealing with them that nothing more can be done for them, they were told this last night, so we'll have to see what happens today. We will call the Police if we need to.

Did manage to get a couple of admin jobs sorted last night, so my desk doesn't look quite so cluttered, trying to keep on top of all paperwork, so I don't let it stack up like it has previously, and I end up trying to peer at the pc screen over piles of paperwork!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Sunny again and already hot. Torrential rain is threatened here so fingers crossed it doesn't reach.

Yesterday was full of emailing and organising stuff and reading qualification specifications - so dull really. Happily it was a lovely day so I could most of it outside.

Today I'm taking a local up to Oban hospital and back. The waiting time will be good reading time.

We have had a verbal COD for my nephew, accidental overdose of prescribed painkillers. At least it was a peaceful death and we can rest easy now.

Onward and upward. Will have to wash the bottom sheet of our bed, my thumb has bled overnight and there's blood next to the pillow, just where I put my hand. I must have rubbed the scab overnight again, I'll just need to keep it covered a bit longer.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Well yesterday was unbearably hot, 32 degrees when I left work at 4.15! The washing was dry to crispy and the plants were all looking a little sad.

Had an emergecy phone call from DD, someone seems to have been playing with an air rifle or something similar, one of the living room windows has been shattered and there's a little hole from a pellet or something similar. She goes into meltdown very easily and couldn't think what to do. I said she should phone the police and then the insurance company which she did. Nothing the police can do apart from have a word with all the kids around there and some very nice chaps came and boarded up the window. It's the outside pane of the double glazed unit. She will contact the insurance co again today to see when the glazier can come. She calmed down pretty quickly and I got home again about 11, just when I thought I would have an early night too!

Anyway, all the netball strips are on the line, hope I get home before the forecast thunder storm. Going to the cinema tonight if it's not too warm.

Have a good day. Take care. XX

Morning all. Yet another scorcher forecast but I think this could be the last day for us. Tomorrow is forecast to start off cloudy with thunderstorms by the afternoon. Oh well, it's been nice whilst it lasted! I shall take advantage of the last hot day and get the bedding washed and pegged out as soon as Mr TA gets out of the bed!

I had a phone call yesterday morning from a dear friend of ours. His wife was diagnosed roughly the same time as Mr TA but, sadly, she lost her battle at the weekend. She's really gone through the mill with her treatment and all for nothing. We went pub quizzing with them every Monday night until illness got in the way. They never had any family of their own and very little extended family so he is going through all the arrangements on his own. I offered to be with him and help with all that's to be done but he insisted, despite constantly breaking down, that he was fine on his own. The funeral has been arranged for Friday which is surprisingly quick for these days.

I have a lot of things in the garden under attack by greenfly. Grr pesky blighters. I don't like insecticides but, if needs must, they will get sprayed. Yesterday I blasted them all with water and they seemed to slither off but I'm sure they'll be back!

Have a good day everybody and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone,

Sunny and bright here, like others there is a chance of thunderstorms later.

Yesterday was lovely, we sat in the garden for most of the day, reading and watching the oh so busy birds racing around trying to feed their young, all the feeders are full up as we try to help!
Only ventured in for an hour in the afternoon to have a sneaky little nap on the sofa, perfick.

Did go over to see Bill and am sad to say he doesn't seem to be improving very much despite being back on the Bute, I do wonder if after all this time he has almost forgotten how to trot properly and that's why its so bad. Think will contact the lovely Physio lady who has seen him before to see if she can suggest anything. Must admit had a good cry when I got home, it's such a heartbreaking situation as there is no way I want him to live his life in pain but my biggest fear is cutting his life short before I have to? Sorry, there is no emoji for how sad I feel today.

    Take care folks x

    Morning all,

Hester - hope you manage to get some rest today.
Camelot - how scary for your DD.
nmlc - how awful that you nearly had to call the police. Glad your colleague stepped in.
Gers - glad that you now know what happened, hugs xx
JackieO - I will be going to see mum and DSis on Sunday in Sittingbourne so might pop to Gillingham on the way - sounds good, thanks for the heads up.

It's our anniversary today (19 yrs) but DH is at drama tonight so we had a meal at our new Bell@ Itali@ last night. As it was a sunny evening we sat outside along with another 4 tables. Only one waiter on plus the manager and they were rushed off their feet. We waited ages for our drinks order (had prosecco as it was a celebration) then he didn't bring an ice bucket, then forgot our cutlery for the shared started so DH went inside and took some from a paid table. The main courses were OK - a bit small for the money imho, and no vanilla ice cream left for my choc pudding. I went to the ladies and DH paid the bill whilst I was gone and didn't leave a tip - I was mortified when he told me. Not the lads fault that they staff it so badly on a Monday night. Feel like going back in today to give him something.

Off to the gym shortly - first time in two weeks although I did run into the village to retrieve our car on holiday a couple of times (down a 1:20 hill which was interesting) I know it's going to hurt today. I put on 3.5 lbs in Cyprus so I'm already 0.5 lb outside my target range at SW. That was before the meal out last night too! Onto the charity afterwards for a 10-2 stint on my own as the boss is in London today at a meeting. DH will be at the in laws today relaying some patio slabs, but I'll get him to put a wash on and hang out before he goes.

    Have a good day all
