Is it possible to record mobile phone conversations for free?

I have a windows nokia phone, and I came across an app which records conversations on you mobile phone, but unfortunately charges for this. Is there a way of recording mobile telephone conversations for free???

I know this thread started with a question about recording phone calls, but to correct a later comment, there is a program called Evaer (Excellent Video And Audio Recorder) which will record video and audio during Skype calls.
Ive used it with Win 7 and 8.1 without problem.
