On Consultation Notice - Redundancy Looming
Comments

Presumably you have an inkling who this job is "earmarked for" ?
That is usually the case.
I suspect the dumbed down salary for the manager means they do not want to keep whoever is on that highest salary. Taking a salary drop is bound to alienate them.
As you have stated you are not the manager or do not specialise in sales, I assume you are the office Admin ?0 -
No not really, although as you said about the manager that is a point to be taken.
I am probably leaning hugely to not applying for the job, actually almost certain, looking at redundancy and then such things as credits and temporary JSA or such and obviously having the redundancy payment behind me. I'll also be 3 months notice, possibly working some of it but guaranteed 3 months money. Although technically after a couple of weeks to get myself together the plan is to find a job to bring everything into more clarity in terms of my finances for the future.
I've confirmed with them after advise on here and via ACAS not to beat about the bush and ask if I don't apply will I be made redundant and that is a yes, meaning I'd be paid whatever monies are due.
So basically the intention unless something comes to light is to reply on Monday advising that I do not wish to be considered for the new position that has been created and that I will therefore be made redundant unless there's a change of plan by the company.

Read up about counter notice.
It is important to understand how that works.0 -

On this, I asked if I do not apply for the job will I be made redundant? The eply was Yes.
So from that any redundancy pay is due, unless I'm reading this wrongly?

Sorry, what?0 -
As already mentioned too there is confusion why I have had to apply for the job (deadline Monday). Also selection for vacancy is based on a competency interview.
I have asked to confirm if I will be paid redundancy and contractual pay if I don't apply.
Just scared to assume with anything in case playing with words.

Update.
As before I asked to confirm if I will be paid redundancy and contractual pay if I the previous questions applied and the reply was that I would be paid redundancy and any other pay, so that is finally cleared up.
I had phoned ACAS and CAB over the weekend, ACAS told me just to lay out the question if I wasn't sure, and that's what I've done and CAB advised to do similar and if I have it in black and white then that is that.
Just that in this situation everything seems to sinister, but seems it's all fine.
That seems to have relaxed me more, and at least I know what I need to do and with it being more probable I won't apply I can look at other jobs and see what I want to do.
Whilst it's still not the best situation, with my current feelings in my job, it's probably for the best anyway.
