Credit check when returned to UK after 4 years

Hello all

I was resident in uk four years bk, had to leave UK when my visa expired in june 2012. I had a credit card of abt 3k pounds unpaid and bank overdraft of 800 pounds.

I checked few months back the ccj register and i had a CCJ registered against me in August 2013.

I am returning back to uk after a period of four years, will my record show up if a credit check is run on me. As i will be new in uk (no address for last 3 years). And if i dnt remember/provide my old addresses.

P.s please set moral judgments to a side and advise on the legal aspect of the issue.

Cheers.

The legal aspect is very simple - pay your debts back as the CCJ can and will be enforced against you.
Additionally not providing your old address, or ticking that box which says "I don't have CCJs etc" during credit application (which they all have) will constitute a fraud for which you can be criminally charged when found out.

Additionally without address history in UK your chances for credit are very thin, maybe for some entry level cards.

    Thank you for your reply.

Any credit check requires address for the last 3 years isnt it ? As i wouldnt have any address in the UK for last 3 years, would it mean my old credit file will not be attached with my new credit file (which would be a month old when i would go for opening a bank account for example)

And also if i could mention, its not the debt i am worrying abt, eventually i would pay it as its not that much. The reason i want to run away from old credit file is the prospects of not securing a job because of the ccj.

Address is not a requirement, but they do ask about your history of address and the link between you and your old credit history can be easily made via name, DOB, id of documents etc.
Additionally once they find that out (not a matter of if but when) then beside having your credit agreement cancelled and having to pay it back within 30 days in full you will be facing criminal charges on multiple counts of fraud and, likely, go to jail. Wonder what will that do when time comes to renew your visa again.

So, once again, man up and pay your debts.

So you will also perjure yourself on a job application? Any corporate recruiter worth his salt will ask for addresses of your previous stay in the UK, and then your goose is cooked.

I returned to uk after 8 years (although was still paying some debts for a couple of years), my credit report is the exact same one as when I left. Im pretty sure I had to give 5 years address history?

You are about to commit couple criminal offences and are surprised that I don't say "you go girl"? I'm sorry but you've created that mess by running away from your financial obligations before and now are hoping to perjure yourself out of the consequences. And it just doesn't work like that.

Well as i clealry stated no moral judgments and you stating "running away" is a judjment you just made without having any background info. But again thanks for taking time out and writing what younhave written.

I think the OP requested there should be no moral judgements, or did I misinterpret the request.

OP - you won't go to jail, whatever.
