Hi can i ask how you found them> as i have McAfee and run it every week but my laptop has also been slow for the last couple of months am on window 8.1 have not updated yet
My husband's son in law looked at the laptop for me and downloaded that Malwarebytes thing I think, McAffee picked up a couple of viruses but only when I asked it to do a full scan, it still had let it in and hadn't picked it up with the routine scans.. The program that was put on to look for malware found a few more things which were removed but I think by this point the damage was already done and also there were issues with the way it had upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 so we opted to wipe the laptop completely. I'm no longer using McAffee!!June 2016 Wins: £64 Argos Voucher :j July 2016 Wins: £25 Cash :j0 -
That's great.. I'm seriously unimpressed with McAfee after letting the viruses through undetected.."Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it's called the Present"0

Malwarebytes is brilliant. I've been using it for a few years now and it's never failed me.
There's also a downloadable Malwarebytes Rootkit tool now for anyone that's interested0 -
I no i pay £56 a year for the Mcafee and it did not pick it up but like you said that bug could of been there a while and done some damage and laptop still running slow, I have not updated yet to windows 10 but am wanting to but gonna clear all my laptop like you and start again just worried about losing all my photos and stuff but gonna try and get a disc to do a back up. Funny enough my new year with Mcafee starts tomorrow and am not getting it again going to uninstall it.
I've got an external hard drive which I use.. I did consider putting my photos onto DVD discs as well but then found that I had over 20GB of them on my laptop, so it would have taken an age to do! May still do that another time though.. you can never have too many back ups lol!
You could upgrade to Windows 10 for free (I believe there is a limited time to do this) and then get the computer wiped and reinstalled with Windows 10 (as you would have already had Windows 10...) I'm not sure if you could wipe it and go direct to Windows 10 if you haven't had it before..June 2016 Wins: £64 Argos Voucher :j July 2016 Wins: £25 Cash :j0
