Oh I hate these forced updates, esp without a warning!!! Is the updated version better/any different? Can you go back to the previous version if you don't like it?

Can't notice any difference - you get messages on screen saying they have "tweaked" it to make it better.

It is forced and no way to roll back

Find 'Disk Clean-up' and run it regularly, it's an integral part of W10 but with each passing improvement it's more difficult to find and sort things yourself.

The latest version of AVG uses a lot of resources and the only way to get rid of it is to use the removal tool on their site

Anyone running Windows 10 - be aware that there is a VERY BIG update coming

Mine did it yesterday afternoon when I switched on my laptop - it took just over 90 mins to complete (and you can't use your device whilst it does it - as it does it at the boot up) - it is a complete new version of Windows 10

    They changed W10 ??
When did this new update come out ?

Thanks for the tips everyone. I've taken Bluebella's advice and bought a new (secondhand) laptop on eBay (my Vaio is getting on 5 years old now). The new one has an i5 processor and 8gb ram so should be more than fine for just comping. Going to sell my Vaio to try and recoup some of the money spent :)

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with 4gb ram. It was always super speedy until around 6 months ago, and now I can't open more than 5 tabs at once otherwise it takes 5 minutes to load the pages.
Running latest version of Chrome. I'm with BT Infinity 2 at 56mb/s. Run CCleaner once a week and have deleted all programs that I have no use for.
Any thoughts anyone? This is driving me mad!

Did you have Windows 8 and upgrade to Windows 10? I had a number of viruses on mine and it was then we found that although it upgraded to Windows 10 the laptop and recovery sections thought I had Windows 8 and therefore I couldn't use the recovery partition to reinstall so the whole lot had to be wiped and started again with Windows 10 directly.. My laptop has been much faster since (mind I no longer have 24GB of photos on my laptop either, that's probably helping!)...

I would check to see if you have any malware or viruses.. my antivirus didn't pick up the ones I had.. :(
