Problems with Neff Ovens - Exploding bulbs and broken doors!

Has anyone else experienced problems with Neff Slide and Hide ovens? I have 2 single ovens that are 3 years old and in both of them the glass cover that shields the bulbs have exploded leaving glass shards in the oven, once while I was cooking and once while the oven was cooling.
In March the door on one of the ovens came off in my husbands hand while he was cooking a and the door and oven were hot! The oven needs to be replaced as apparently is not economical to repair so we're having to buy a new oven.

I have spoken to Neff and they say that they haven't had many complaints about these issues but a quick internet search says otherwise on both fronts. Surely these are quite serious safety issues??? I find it hard to believe that a company like Neff can just ignore them! They also said that as the ovens were out of their warranty (2 years) it was nothing to do with them - surely a lamp cover and a bulb shouldn't be exploding at any time never mind in a 2-3 year old oven or the door falling off during cooking!!!:

Yes we are having a problem with the Slide and Hide door falling off all the time which seems to have got worse over time. We are outside of our 2 year guarantee so planning on calling Neff about it today.
  • What's the model number of your oven?

A small claims court will cost you less than £80 so it could be worth a go. Especially as you can provide evidence off the net that there are a number of complaints about it and therefore it is likely there is an manufacturing defect concerned...
  • Just to add to this thread - we have a 7yr old NEFF Oven Type HT5ET60 in our upstairs kitchenette which has never been used! The inside/middle glass of the oven door has just exploded (inner and outer glass of door remaining intact)! Clearly there is a design fault with these.
  • I've just discovered this thread and can agree that there is a problem. We've had at least 5 of the glass covers crack and fall apart in 6 years

This is dangerous as the remnants are tricky to remove and you end up with a meal with glass in it if you don't notice.

Bosch claim not to have any idea of the the problem, but I that's bull!

Won't be buying another Neff oven.
  • My oven is only one and a half months old and used on four occasions. Last night whilst grilling, the oven glass light cover shattered over the food whilst cooking. Contacted Neff this morning and person on customer service said he had not come across this problem before. I referred him to the website as it seems to be a manufacturing defect as too many customers have reported this fault which is surely a health and safety issue. Engineer coming on Wednesday.

Would help if you asked Neff rather than Bosch :)

We have had one for about 5 years. Bought it as the door operation was the most suitable for our narrow galley kitchen. No problems with either light cover or the door so maybe corners have been cut with newer versions.

Neff and Bosch are different brands of the same company.
  • This has happened to me on three occasions now. First couple was when oven was purchased in 2014, after getting an issue recently and having no bulb and cover the engineer blamed a fault for allowing hot air to get to where PCB,s are. Fitted a new unit and bulb and cover within three months glass has gone again every time whilst using oven with food in. Now awaiting engineer to come out next week as under guarantee.
