B&Q online order returns??

Sorry, not sure of most suitable forum for this.
Before anyone starts up, it's not a complaint.
I ordered something on their website. It wasn't in a colour i was too happy with but i needed it so bought it anyway.
Then on a trip to homebase i saw the exact same thing, literally exact same thing, cheaper & in the colour i wanted so i picked it up as i knew i could just return the B&Q thing.
It actually never got dropped off as my mother was out so never received it.
Called Parcelforce & told them i was only going to return it for a refund anyway, what should i do. They said to refuse delivery & it'll go back to retailer, so this is what happened.
I tried to call B&Q to ask about the refund process - do i just get refunded once the item lands back or will they get it back & be like wonder what's happened here, we wont refund until we know whether it's wanted or not etc.
Anyway after being on hold for 20mins before even getting put through to anyone i hung up.
Is anyone here familiar with the process? Will i just get refunded the moment it lands back at their depot or do i have to contact them for a refund?

ring b+q and say you are canceling the order and it been sent back, you will be entitled to a full refund including outward postage once they have processed it0

I did try to ring B&Q
20mins on the phone & not even put through to someone. Bit ridiculous. Which is why i thought i'd ask if i just got the refund with it being sent back?0 -
I would suggest you also send an email confirming the cancellation.
B&Q are entitled to ask for a cancellation notice by a durable means.0 -
