Is an Ipad all I need?

I have a tablet (a Hudl 2) and a PC, because some things are hard/impossible to do on a tablet.
For example:-
Scanning photos/documents.
Viewing/editing photos taken on my Bridge camera.
Editing videos, and uploading them to Youtube.
If you can afford it, I'd suggest getting both.0 -
The iPad is a great, simple product, and very easy to use.
However I would not use it for spreadsheets, typing large documents, or doing data entry; if that's your thing then it's a PC you need (Windows, Linux or Mac).
You could get the iPad without ditching your laptop and see how you go.
You can store documents in the Cloud (ie. at a web site, such as DropBox) rather than locally, but it's up to you to decide whether you are comfortable with that.0 -
Whats wrong with the laptop ?
Try a reinstall of the OS ?0 -
Thanks, replies here have confirmed I am going to need a laptop - would probably go for Windows, although a friend has offered me a little used Macbook. Never used Apple except iphone so am I likely to struggle?0

Consider a chromebook with a mouse plugged in. I prefer it to a PC or a tablet0

You should seriously consider a HP X360 convertible. Works as both a small laptop (with a good spec.) and a large tablet. Great piece of kit and can be had at a good price.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0

I use Mac, Windows and Linux PCs (I use Ubuntu Linux); the main differences are:chillidonna wrote: »Thanks, replies here have confirmed I am going to need a laptop - would probably go for Windows, although a friend has offered me a little used Macbook. Never used Apple except iphone so am I likely to struggle?- Launcher: Windows is a solid panel along the bottom of the screen, the Mac has a dock which is narrower than the screen and Linux's is on the left side of the screen.
- Using the desktop: Windows minimise/maximise/close buttons are on the right edge of the window title bar, whereas Mac and Linux have them on the left (with Linux you can move it by changing a config item). Mac's default scrolling is in the opposite direction to Windows and Linux - they call it "Natural", meaning you are moving the paper up/down rather than the window over it up/down, but if you want you can change it in the Control Panel.
- Shutdown: In Windows you pull up the menu via the "Start" button at the bottom left, on the Mac you pull down the Apple menu at the top right, on Linux it's on a pull-down menu at the top-right.
- Microsoft Office: Available on Windows and Mac. (They're different products, though, so you can't just install the Windows version straight onto a Mac if you change over.)
- Open/Libre Office: Available on Windows, Mac and Linux.
I personally rate things in order of preference Mac OS X, then Windows 7, then Linux, then Windows 10 as a desktop end-user (note that Windows 8 doesn't make it onto the list!) .0 -
Very helpful, thanks.0
