BT price hike

I'm currently on a 12 month contract with BT which is due to end at the end of June. I have the Entertainment Plus TV package, Infinity 1 broadband and weekend calls for £26.65 a month excluding line rental rental (paid it in advance).
I've been offered the same package for £15 a month excluding line rental. I've been told if I renew my contract and pay the line rental upfront before 3rd July the I'll be safe from any price hikes, even to the Infinity 1 package. Is this true or just a ploy to get me to sign up? I wouldn't have thought my broadband package price would be safe from a price increase just because I signed up before 3rd July.
I was considering going to Plusnet but the 18 month contract puts me off.

The things you have are ~£40 per month plus line rental after the recent BT price rises and ~£65 if you have BT Sports so unless you're switching elsewhere then these sound like good prices for a new 12m minimum term. Remember BT do charge disconnection fees when switching providers even though Plusnet are the same company, and Plusnet may also charge a connection fee too.0 -
If you pay advance line rental before 3rd July it will be at today's price and not subject to price increases .
I spoke to BT regarding advance line rental renewal a few days ago .I have 27 days before the end of my current advanced rental ends 13 July to sign up at today's prices . That is providing i do so before 3rd July .0 -
Just spoke to BT. I've been advised that if I pay the line rental upfront and take the new offer before 3rd July, I will not be affected by the price rises. The adviser said because the new offer is tied to a different product code, they are not affected by the rises.
He couldn't confirm the offer via email (something to do with getting into my account) but I have his name and the date/time of the call, so I suppose if anything does happen, then I can ask for the call to be reviewed.0 -
But be aware you will be subject to any further price rises as per your contract . That is if BT raises BB prices at a later date .0

Hopefully they won't raise the prices any further. Plusnet would be the next best option - but that's an 18 month contract.
TalkTalk are offering the Essentials TV package and Fibre Medium for £10 for 12 months and then £20 for 6 months (excluding line rental upfront).0 -
The adviser I spoke to on 28/05/16 rang me back earlier to run through the offer again. She's a diamond - certainly sounds like she knows what she's talking about.
I can have the Infinity 1 Unlimited - £10 and Entertainment Plus - £5, totalling £15 a month excluding line rental. Or just the Infinity 1 Unlimited for £10 excluding line rental.
Would the YouView box still act as a Freeview box if I drop the Entertainment Plus package?0 -

Yes but you would lose the extra premium Internet channels, ie Watch , Gold etc
Not sure if you would be charged for BT Sports too, doesn't it need a current TV contract?
I'm in a 12 month contract till early Aug, but might as well keep my discounts till then and negotiate with retentions then. They should match Plusnet pricing or I just move.0 -
Good thing I never activated the free BT Sports!0
