    If the administrators have been called in, their job is to get as much money as possible for the creditors. Which usually means that while the business will continue to "trade as normal", they wont accept gift card balances or issue any refunds.

    Theres a pecking order in creditors - with consumers usually at the bottom of it.

    Meanwhile, those responsible for the debts accumulating can walk away without losing a penny.

    That was my first thought as well, but my second was that perhaps it's a dress to be worn to attend a wedding rather than a dress for the bride to be married in (or the groom, to avoid any accusations of sexism!).

    BHS was well known for its decent wedding dept.

    Not everyone wants to spend hundreds of pounds on a dress they will only wear once
