Did you agree completion date in writing and are there any reasons beyond his control that the supplier can claim led to delays (eg design or colour change, additional work, unexpected work) etc...
I agree with the above quote, can you find out what the reasons were that the company gave for not having it finished in time?
As depending on those answers and how finished the kitchen was would depend on how much you feel you should hold back if that is what you decide to do.
If it was a case of just the kitchen cabinet door's not being on and that was it, because the ones the company had initially were damaged when they arrived or something then I think that whilst it is inconvenient, i do personally think your wife was a bit too dramatic if she was genuinely devastated and embarrassed, over such, in my opinion, a small thing.0 -
My wedding present to my wife was a lovely new kitchen
The kitchen was £9000
Crikey, that's nearly double what our wedding actually cost, let alone his nibbs presenting me with a wedding gift of a new kitchen!
Nice gesture though, curious to see a pic of it.
Would love a lovely new kitchen but sadly it's still at the DIY store where it might be for some time......"The truth is of course is that there is no journey.
We are arriving and departing all at the same time."0 -
Compensation for the devestation of people seeing your pans? A swift slap perhaps?0

I bought my wife a hoover. She took me to the cleaners!0

Quite so. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy my (her) kitchen what with, my blacked out eyes and broken limbs.peachyprice wrote: »We wouldn't have made it up the aisle if my husband gave me a new kitchen as wedding present!!!
See, I must be weird, but I'd be thrilled to bits with this as a wedding present. I'd always rather spend money on my home than anything else (except holidays)....it's where we spend most of our time!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I'm stuck at home most of the time and we have spent a lot of money getting things just as we like them. If my OH said 'Let's redo the kitchen/buy a conservatory/revamp the garden to celebrate X occasion', I'd be quite happy with that.
What I would find strange would be to have one of those things done as a present to me.
No major works would be done in the house without both of us being involved in the decisions and both of us would benefit from and get the pleasure from the changes - it's just not personal.0 -

I see what you're saying, but if there's limited money available, then I'd be quite happy for a new kitchen to be my birthday or Christmas present, but then, I'd rather have the shiny, new gadgets than clothes or jewelleryI let my mind wander and it never came back!0
