No it's not. It is the responsibility of the airline to inform the passenger, especially if the flight is going to leave earlier. That's why they ask for a phone number and email address when you book.

Whoever is responsible, the prudent thing to do from a passenger perspective is to check for schedule changes yourself.

I think the OP is saying that with the earlier flight time she would only be able to arrive 5 minutes before check in closes - not the originally timed flight.

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying! With the original flight time I could get there 3 hours or so before the flight. With the new times, I can't.

I'd suggest changing your schedule so that you can.

In my experience BA have always texted me flight changes in good time with a follow up email/eticket.

They're also just about the most frustrating company there is to complain to.

In that case good job they changed your flight or you might have been too late for the original one.

BA have what's called "conformance" you must pass through security 35 minutes before scheduled departure time or you won't be allowed to fly.

That is through security, not checked in. and they are very strict on that, no exceptions.

The original flight was 2 hours later, why would the OP have been late for it?

BA does not have conformance at outstations.

    Ok sorry for misunderstanding
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
