Plusnet Speeds issue

I've been a loyal PlusNet customer for a number of years and have just realized after an issue with my broadband failing to connect that my upload speed had been restricted. This was a shock to me and after a second call on the 1/6/2016 i was told that when i renewed my contract in July 2015 the upload speeds had been reduced from 20meg to 2meg. According to forums i have found on line this should only have been applied to new customers, i am not and haven't been for a long time a new customer.

The adviser confirmed that plusnet had failed to notify myself of change and i feel that is a failure on there part and that i should still be entitled to the full 20meg of upload or to be able to terminate my contract with out penalty or cost to myself as soon as possible.

Has anyone else come across the same issue and have had any results?

Unless you got a deal which started you off on a fresh minimum term then being a customer for a number of years means you will be able to leave with 30days notice.

If you call them and explain that you will be leaving and why the chances are they will put you on the full fttc product without an upstream speed cap. You should be able to negotiate a price reduction too with any luck at the cost of a new minimum term.

As a price guide I pay £12.50 for the 80/20 product but had to accept a fresh 24month minimum to get that. I've heard of people doing better too. Best bet is to find a pfice for them to match.
