Bankruptcy, exactly same name as me, Land Registry state details might go on my deeds

I have had the same letter, it makes no sense as the alleged bankrupt address given on the letter is an address I have never been to or heard of
Section 2 states "brief details of the bankruptcy proceedings" it then gives a reference, contact details, debtors name, debtors address and debtors occupation
Nothing apart from the name has anything to do with me
I have never been, lived or have any idea where the debtors stated address is. The only correct information on the form is my name and current address which is my property (no mortgage fully paid for)
I have looked at my Equifax credit report and nothing there shows any information analogous to the surreptitious accusation
Totally bewildered can anyone advise. I have returned the prepaid reply; but have no idea what will happen next
I have never been bankrupt and have an excellent credit score and no debts0 -
Hello Land Registry Representative. I am desperately trying to contact LR Bankcruptcy department. I have spoken to the main customer number and they have given me the same number you have offered in your post (0300 006 6107)
This number just rings and rings and rings.....
I am acting as Executor for a relatives Will, I need to pay beneficiaries and I'm waiting on a name search back (K16) the cheque I included with the form was cashed by LR some time ago but I have not received the form back.....
I have three expectant beneficiaries waiting for their £££££.......
Pleas help with a number that someone answers!!!
Thank you in advance.0 -

We are not the first thing you think of re such contact as many people never have any direct dealings with us but it can help here.
As this somewhat ancient thread has been revived anyway, could I ask if the notice theartfullodger recieved would have triggered an alert for people signed up to the LR Property Alert service?
That would seem an idea way of making sure 'lost/delayed in the post' notices came to the attention of owners/absent owners. It could even mean that the owner is able to get in touch with LR before the notice has been put in the post."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Still the correct number - just rang it and it was picked up in a few rings. At busy times you may go to voicemail but it should not simply ring and ring“Official Company Representative

The notice would not trigger a notification.
However if the application, which triggered the notice, had been submitted against the title against which their alert was attached then they would receive an alert notification at the point of it's receipt, namely earlier than any notice then served.
We would still have to serve notice as that is a requirement within the bankruptcy process itself.“Official Company Representative

Thank you LR representative.
If I've understood correctly, in theartfullodger's case there would have been no email alert - assuming it was just an unlucky matching of names - whereas if the applicant had wrongly identified the title then there would be an alert?
If so, it sounds like a loophole in the alerts service which might need to be closed at some point? Otherwise I've found the alerts service to be extremely useful and would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest of any kind in a particular property. It saved a friend of a friend a fortune."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Eachpenny I take the point but it may help to explain the Bankruptcy process, in brief, here
Bankruptcy petition leads to the court notifying the Land Charges Department and the bankruptcy being registered against the name
Immediately after that the LCD notify us re the names with registered titles associated with them
Where they are identified as a sole registered proprietor we will capture a substantive application against the relevant title. This then enables us to serve the notice mentioned above
The applicant is not a creditor for example so the bad luck you refer to should not apply here as in order to serve notice we need an application against the 'unlucky' owner's title so for each bankruptcy petition you might have a handul of unlucky names and one who is the bankrupt and who is the sole owner of a single property title“Official Company Representative

Right, I think I understand now.
theartfullodger was 'unlucky' because the LCD matched his name with the bankrupt and then identified his title as one which might be owned by the bankrupt.
The substantive application against the title which might result from the LCD's notification would then trigger an email alert - provided email alerts have been set up which include that title.
So all-in-all another good reason for people to sign up for the email alert service."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Correct. And for registered owners to ensure that they have current contact addresses on the register itself.
That's not an easy one to conquer of course but if you move then add HMLR to list of people to tell“Official Company Representative
