Amazon ( Sony) faulty item

Hi all,
I purchased Sony A5100 camera from Amazon in November 2014 and it has developed a fault.
Contacted Amazon and they said that I have to speak to Sony as they only give 1 year warranty.
Sony said that I have to pay £100+ for a camera repair as they also give 1 year warranty.
Now, according to SOGA it's reasonable to expect that camera works for more then 1.5 years and need advice who shall I chase for this repair/replacement.
If I understood correctly my claim is with Amazon and what would be the best way around it?
Many thanks

You need to prove the fault existed when you purchased it, I'd just move on and buy another camera.0

It is the seller you need to approach, beit Amazon or the marketplace seller.
You have a statutory right to seek a remedy for up to six years following the sale, but as has been said you may well need to prove that the fault is inherent.
How did you pay for the thing?
Did you use a credit card?
If so, the credit provider is equally responsible with the seller for performance of the contract.
It might be worth getting in touch with your card issuer.

...I'd just move on and buy another camera.
For a camera that is still selling today at £450? I wouldn't.0 -

Bought directly from Amazon with gift card balance.0 -
You need to gather some evidence of the fault, either from online reviews or send it to a repair centre to find out if the fault was inherent.
What is the fault? The fact Amazon have told you they only warranty the item for 1 year is illegal anyway. You might well end up doing a moneyclaim online.
You could also pay for the repair, then try and sue for the cost. It will cost about £50 for the claim and £100+ for the repair/diags so might not be worth it.0 -

What Amazon have stated is not illegal in the slightest.
Because a warranty is not a legal right but something given that is in addition to a consumers statutory rights, no manufacturer or retailer has to offer any warranty at all but if they do then they can make it 1 day, 10 years or any other timescale that they wish.0 -
Waiting to hear from Amazon internal team, 24-48 hours response time.
Will update.0 -
What is the actual fault?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
