Bottled gas cylinders in Italy MUST be stored outside the premises, for example on a balcony, and I suspect the same rule/law applies here.
The OP has stated that the property is a 2nd floor flat with no balcony so, given the various points raised in this post, I don't think a gas cylinder will be permitted inside the flat.
OP - your best bet is to look and see if there is already provision for a gas cooker when you get the keys, either that or use the electric facilities provided.0
