  • Morning :0)

You'll have a great time ones your out. Your probably just feeling weird and guilty about spending money. Just because we've had out LBM doesn't mean we have to stop all socialising completely. You've got your budget and have planned ahead to make the night cheaper where possible. Let your hair down and have fun. Xxxxx
    emergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£
    boys savings £
    Christmas £60 bday £40 holiday £

    Family loan £7000/£5425
    Credit Card 0% £2015.32 eon £435 overdrafts £1500/£1300
  • Thank you Hannah. It was nice, i feel ok this morning as well which is good. Not sure I will post later - so yesterday spent £12 lidl, £22 takeaway, £15 cocktails. Not too bad. But it feels like a long time to last out of the overdraft. I will.need to be very good for next few weeks. 2 weeks, 5 days to payday. Then hair and hoover for september and loan going under £2000, I can see the light with this and my 4th credit card.
I have around £14,500 in total. And £4,600 on one credit card (credit card no 1) at 0%. Got an email offering me increased limit of £9,600. Could.not believe it. Completely ridiculous.
Hoping to reduce this to 3 cards and no loan plus no overdraft by march next year.
On the Christmas front got my brother and girlfriend something they like (not yet bought) but planned in september so will be able to cross them off list as done which is great! I know its miles away but I would rather get them something they want now than something they are indifferent about.in 4 months time.
So this week need to do meal plan, buy cereal (unfortunately this is one thing lidl does not do well), not go out and study hard to make up for this weekend off,
I think spending less money makes you appreciate things more. I love my new handbag and I love the perfume, maybe a bit too much, I cant see it lasting too long, might have to choose something different and stronger next time. I found some jeans in my wardrobe tag on never touched. Took me by surprise as I cant remember buying them but I obviously didn't really need them. Its good right now but I feel a bit cross with myself for living like that. But I wont do that again.
All the clothes money is going on work clothes which I will also need next month. I may have to concede on the 4th credit card temporarily but if everything is going down except this one then its not too bad. Just have to keep going. xxx

    2018 plans - reduce debt
  • Hey PSL,

You did good girl. Think of how much you would have spent at this time last year & see how well you have done.

Like everyone has said we can't stop living while we are getting rid of the debt.

II need to work out mu budget today been spending on the cards which I had planned not to do at all this month - whoops!

Had a night out on Friday for a birthday aswell & spent about 30.00, this could have been spent much more wisely but no guilt here. Had fun & its a new day today.

    Dxxx
  • It is so hard to get the right balance of paying debt and living isn't it! Shame we have to like cocktails and can't be happy with a pint lol - saying that they are pricey these days too!!

What perfume did you get? I am obsessed with smells! Love perfume, washing powder, fabric softeners, plug ins, room sprays, I love them all lol

Lidl do really nice muesli, it comes in a blue bag think it's about 2 pounds...the most expensive one they do but at £2 it's hardly much! and it is packed with raisons, nuts, banana chips and coconut bits...incase you're into that!

Dyson website and John Lewis website normally do good sales, and could try with cash back sites too if you order online! I had a look to see if any deals and shouldn't have as just saw my own one I got at the start of the year with £120 off lol!! I wouldn't get anything but a Dyson, might seem costly against others but I think it pays for itself over the years plus 5 year warranty!!

    xx

Hiya, Here's me chipping in on the hoover front!
I got a Which subscription last year as we needed a few new things, and we got a Miele hoover which was loads cheaper than Dyson, but just as good scores. It does need a bag, but I just bought a load of them. I wanted something small and it is just that.

  • Hi PSL, just wanted to drop by to say yours is one of the threads I've been reading in recent days (being a single lady myself!) which has motivated me to create my own diary. Sounds like you've made an excellent start - and nothing wrong with having little treats, otherwise you'd just end up completely deprived and then probably have a massive splurge instead...
    So - thank you!

Aww this is so nice. Thank you. I didn't think my diary was helping anyone except me so if it is then that is fantastic. Its great when my diary is on page 4 or something because everyone is posting. I really feel comforted by the amount of people and all the different circumstances and situations and of course the progress. If anyone reading is thinking about having a diary (but mayne not sure whether it helps or where to begin) please please do. It helps so much and it doesn't matter if its not exciting. Paying back debt is gritty and probably doesn't make for great reading but writing it a down is more helpful and I honestly think good for the soul.
Today was an NSD. Tommorow should be too. Getting close to overdraft. Some things will have to go on credit card but taking things one day at a time. Balance is £166 with £80 left to pay out in direct debits. Which leaves £86 for 17 days. Im not sure that's possible but maybe just maybe!
I hadn't thought about which hoover, my old one makes all the right noises but is completely pathetic! I might have a look tommorow. Will have a look at all your suggestions. Thank you.
Im pretty sure last year for my friends birthday it was heavy and expensive. And definitely would not have involved drinking and eating at home. I do think having fun is important and when we get older we forget to prioritise it but it is important to remember.
Got hugo boss perfume, its lovely but a bit too faint for me.
I will look up this musili, the lidl bran flakes are really sugary and not nice at all. If I can shop in lidl till payday then I will have done it for a month (plus one trip to iceland). Which feels massive.
Had spaghetti bol tonight, fishcakes tommorow. 2 weeks 3 days to payday. We can do this. xxxx

Great to read your updates PSL. Just a thought, if one of the 0% cc's is offering you a higher limit could you transfer the remaining balance of your hsbc card to this so that all of your debt is then on 0%? You could find out if they'll honour the 0% on a balance transfer. Obviously you may have already thought of this and ruled it out but just thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't thought of it.
